yellow brick road (2017)
6 x 18'
oil on unstretched canvas, installed with pushpins
I thought about splitting yellow brick road into 2 canvases. I didn't.
But in a way this piece explores several journeys. As a painter of color, saturation can indicate the passing of time. Color fades.
Gazing at yellow brick road, the left side narrative contains technology—two smartphones and a laptop. The right side is more dreamlike, with the white horse.
The show explores 2 cul-de-sacs on the yellow brick road. I am not yet sure if the content clearly picks a side.
Memories, wishes, loss, hope.
Resolution is with the viewer.
